2011 Spring Fairy Festival Volunteer Positions:

 

Customer Service:

 

Description: Interacts with the public to provide a good experience for all festival goers.

  • Entrance Elves greet the Humans and fellow fae as they come into the festival and collect pretty green paper and shiny coins from them- SO exciting!

·         Volunteer Genie helps volunteers get to their jobs

·         Merchant Sprites sell Fairy Festival gear such as t-shirts, stickers and more.

Skill or Requirements
Ability to interact with the public, patience, the gift of maintaining grace under pressure, elementary math and money handling skills. 

 

Schedule
We are looking for people to help out in 2 hour shift increments beginning 15 minutes before the festival opens and ending 15 minutes after the festival closes. We ask that you arrive for your job 15 minutes prior to your start time so we can get you signed in properly at your station.

 

Handy Helpers:

Description: These positions are extremely hectic, and perfect for those who work well under pressure...

  • Publicity Fairy Brigade- Delivers/installs Fairy Festival posters/flyers at local businesses. Helps promote the festival up to 12 weeks prior to the actual event.
  • Festival Fare Sprite - Unloading the vendors' vehicles and finding their booth space gets really frantic. When the festival is over, repeat in reverse. 
  • Hospitality Elf - Our staff can get very busy so assisting them while they do their jobs is important. You will be going from station to station, bringing water and possibly food to the staff, checking in with the craft/class areas, provide brief respite if someone really needs a bathroom break.
  • Brownie of All Trades - The Brownie of all Trades is the All Around Helper! You may be called upon to help track down The Queen fairy when she disappears. Fill in for a missing volunteer or perhaps find a parent who has become separated from their small child. You might even be asked to fix something.

Skill or Requirements
Ability to interact with the harried staff members, patience, the gift of maintaining grace under pressure, can think on your feet, common sense, ability to move at fairy speed. For Festival Fare Sprite - you will need to be able to lift 30-40.

Schedule
We are looking for people to help out in 2 hour shift increments beginning 90 minutes before the festival opens and ending 60 minutes after the festival closes. We ask that you arrive for your job 15 minutes prior to your start time so we can get you signed in properly at your station.

Photography:

Description: Photography Fae is a sparkly spirit that flits about the Festival with magical human equipment, capturing the festival events in photography.  They go where the humans go, shopping, to a class/ workshop, etc…

Skill or Requirements
Skill/Requirement:  Must have own camera equipment, must not mind a lot of walking, ability to transfer photos to the Spring Fairy Festival web developer.

Schedule
2-3 hour shift minimum. If you can devote an entire day, that would be greatly appreciated (but is not mandatory).

Crafty Creatures:

Description: Using their many crafty tools they are seen working industriously at the Festival. They help humans create beautiful things, or turn them into fairies for the day.

Skill or Requirements
Patience, ability to work equally well with children and parents, creativity, mellowness, willingness to learn a new craft, flexibility, ability to deal with crowds, quick thinking and quick acting

We are looking for people to help out in 2-3 hour shift increments beginning 15 minutes before the festival opens and ending 15 minutes after the festival closes.

Volunteers are expected to be reliable, attend at least one planning meeting (1 week before event), and to uphold the values and image of the festival.
